AT THIS MOMENT - WHAT I'M WATCHING READING LOVING // www.xloveleahx.co.uk

WATCHING

Oh God, what haven't I watched recently?! I had a bit of a rubbish mental health spell and my go-to escape from it is watching LOTS of tv so I don't have to think. I've just finished watching Designated Survivor on Netflix. It stars Kiefer Sutherland and it's a political thriller. The series has just ended and I hope it'll be renewed.

I also watched Alien Covenant at the cinema about 10 days ago. I really enjoyed it. I know a lot of people have said it didn't have enough aliens in it, but it is a prequel. I wish it had had less Michael Fassbender in it though, his Android facial expressions are so good it gives me the creeps!

READING

I'm reading Night School by Lee Child. It's the first book I've bought for myself in years as I usually read from my Kindle, but when we went to Manchester this weekend just gone I forgot to take it. I find the Jack Reacher books really thrilling. Before that I'd read a couple of David Baldacci books. Crime/thrillers are my favourite reads, especially Scandinavian ones.

MAKING

Ummmm, does making my face up count?! If so, that. I have a renewed love of colour at the moment, especially blue. Blue lipstick, blue eyeshadow - but not necessarily at the same time. I don't want to look like a Smurf.

STARTING

Tonight I'm going to start watching the final season of Bloodline on Netflix. If you've never heard of it, it's a family drama which involves murder and all kinds of intrigue. It's really gripping, but sadly I think that family has had enough bad luck and made enough bad choices to make any more series seem far fetched. Also, it's filmed in Florida and relied heavily on tax breaks, which have come to an end, making it not enough of a money-spinner for Netflix and Sony entertainment to continue.

FINISHING

TW: sexual abuse

I finally got around to watching National Treasure, the TV four-parter starring Robbie Coltrane which was on some months ago. In it he plays an alleged sex offender, and as the story unfolds you get to see whether he's guilty or not. On a similar theme, I watched The Keepers on Netflix. I have never been so OUTRAGED by a documentary. Ever. It shows you proof of sickening child abuse carried out by Catholic priests in the US, and quite possibly a murder, too. Covering it up was a conspiracy which went right to the top of the police force as well as the highest echelons of the church. Perverts protect other perverts. If you watch it - especially if you've been abused - I urge extreme caution as there are very graphic accounts of abuse from the victims. The fight they had in trying to be heard (let alone try to get justice) was long and hard. It will break your heart, make you rage and change you in some way forever.

ENJOYING

Having my mum on Facebook - it's lovely to see her embracing the joys of caps lock and emojis!

Life! James and I have been really busy recently and it's been lovely. This month we've had my family here for a week, had Mike and Mookie here for the weekend and have been to the Peak District and Manchester for 4 days.

TEXTING

The last person I texted was a friend who recently lost his father.

LOVING

Sleep. I'm having an M.E. flare up and I'm exhausted at the slightest thing. My bed is my favourite thing right now. It's to be expected to have a flare up after such a busy month, but it's made me lose my blogging mojo as well. Especially outfits - having the energy to wash my hair, do my makeup and go out to do shots outside is a strain at the moment. It'll pass. These things always do.

Coloured mascara - I bought a purple one from KIKO about a month ago and I LOVE it! I've just bought a few more online - pink, bright blue, navy and teal. I love contrasting my eyeshadow and mascara. It's such an easy, quick way to do vibrant makeup. I also ordered a couple of vibrant liquid eyeliner shades - plum and teal. They're all by LA Colors, a company who doesn't test on animals. I got them all here.

HATING

I've felt really unwell for quite some weeks now. It's not just the M.E. flare up. It feels like I have some kind of low level virus going on as well. My tonsils were so big one day they were sticking to the back of my tongue and trapping food there. Grim! You know when you feel not quite right but not completely ill either? It's like a creeping not-quite-well feeling which gets more debilitating the longer it goes on. I really hope to get some rest and recuperation soon.

My body being unable to regulate temperature because of Fibromyalgia. I go outside in this heat and I get hot and sweaty. A couple of minutes later I'm shivering because my body has taken it too far in the opposite direction in an attempt to cool me down. I constantly veer between too hot and too cold, with very little time feeling just right. It's one of those Fibro symptoms I don't much talk about, but it is a big pain in the bum. I never know what to wear as I have to account for every possibility. It's no wonder I always carry a huge bag!

What's new with you?

Thanks for reading. Leah xoxo

  1. Bloodline season three episode one was meant to be a reward for finishing my chores on Sunday. Somehow I ended up watching all 10 episodes in one sitting. :) I don't think it was as good as the previous seasons but I still loved it anyway. :)

    1. I'm halfway through. I just finished episode 5. I have no idea how it's going to end for the Rayburns, but I'm guessing it won't be pretty. I'll probably plough through the other half tonight.

  2. Oh the joys of fibromyalgia :(

I am being eaten alive my midges and my town is full of tourists. If I had the dosh I'd go be a tourist in someone else's town but I don't so I'm glowering around here trying to avoid being midge food and actually killing the Scottish tourist industry.

    1. I've never been to the land of my forefathers (I'm 1/4 Scottish) but I really ought to. Just not in summer, as I've heard the midges are bastards!

Ah, you're another Fibro sufferer then. Gentle hugs!
