Fatshion February 14/02

Hiya!

Happy V-Day if you celebrate, and if you're single, perhaps this post from a couple of years ago is more your style.

I was supposed to have a photo shoot yesterday but the photographer got stuck on the M25 in traffic hell, so we've rescheduled for Sunday. Here's what I was wearing. I wasn't going to take photos as eventually you'll be seeing some from the photographer, but James insisted as he thought I looked the bomb dot com! Please excuse the mess in the background/foreground.

I did very natural make up as I wanted the dress to be the focus, and besides, in this bra no one will be looking at my face anyway! ;) Holy uplift, Batman! If you saw the photo I posted on Instagram yesterday, you'll see this bra gives me cleavage half way to my chin. I love these Evans concealed wire bras so much. Back to the makeup, I used the Makeup Revolution Iconic 1 palette, which is a dupe for the first UD Naked palette.

I love how the hearts hair band from this months C&G Glitterati box is a perfect shade match for this dress. Unintentional match-iness is the best! This dress is normally £45 but I got it for £28 in some sale or other 2-3 months ago.

I'm wearing:
Heart headband C&G Glitterati box
Concealed wire bra, Evans
Lady V London Isabella dress
Polka dot handbag, past season Very

50 denier tights, Donatellas
Shoes, from a friend

When I wear this on Sunday I must remember to wear my Domino Dollhouse floofy petticoat underneath. Yes, floofy is totally a word. ;)

Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend.

Ali Express novelty handbag wishlist

Hello you,

New Look have started a fire in me for novelty handbags, and the more strange they are the better. eBay isn't quite out there enough for me these days, so I had a good look on Ali Express and saw a few I love.

Rubik Cube bag
Black acrylic perfume bag
Black faux leather perfume bag
Milk bag

Ooh, shut the front door! Look at this beauty!

As ever with an auction type site, check every seller's feedback before you buy - my links don't endorse the seller. I've ordered 2 or 3 things from Ali Express so far, and they have a very good system in place to refund you if your order doesn't arrive or isn't as promised. I've had no problems so far, but be aware shipping takes ages, at least a month usually.

Do any of these bags take your fancy? I may have already bought one *whistles*.

Beauty - How I keep milia at bay

Hello loves,

I have a skin care post for you today. I've had milia since I was a small child - they run in the family. Sometimes called milk spots, milia are thought to be caused by too much keratin. Keratin is the key material making up hair, skin and nails. The milia look like whiteheads or yellow heads and they never go completely - I always have some. It's a case of trying to keep them as minimal as possible.

Here's a photo of me from December with some milia circled - the filter I used on Instagram has masked some of them.

I get a lot of them around my eyes and on my cheeks, and up until about a month ago they were getting bigger and bigger as I wasn't vigilant enough. They're a pain in the butt! I use a mixture of chemical and manual exfoliation to get rid of dead skin cells and reveal glowing new skin underneath. Here's what I use to keep them at bay.

Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It £9 here (in new white packaging) 100ml

Formulated with our exclusive, deep-pore detoxing D-CLOGTM MICROMUD Scrub Your Nose In It is super cleansing, clears pore-clogging dead skin cells, soaks up excess oils, stimulates fresh oxygen to your face. T-zone purifying, pore shrinking and refining strategically formulated for oily/combination skin.

I use this a couple of times a week to gently scrub my face. I scrub at any particularly large milia for a few seconds using the glove. Sometimes they dry up and fall off a couple of days later, or they shrink.

Paula's Choice 2% BHA exoliant gel £23.50 here 100ml

Break up with breakouts, clogged pores, and redness for good. This exfoliant removes old skin cells both on the skin’s surface and inside pores using 2% salicylic acid.

  • Great for blackheads and acne breakouts
  • Smooths wrinkles, reveals younger looking skin
This is a chemical exfoliant - meaning the chemicals help uncover new cells. I use this a couple of times a week, alternating between the GlycoWash.

Paula's Choice 8% AHA exfoliant gel £23.50 here 100ml

Get your glow on. Apply this leave-on exfoliant once or twice a day. Smooths skin, fades sun damage, and reveals younger-looking skin.

  • Hydrates and stimulates collagen production
  • Evens out skin tone for a brighter, smoother complexion
This is also a chemical exfoliant. I use the 8% AHA gel once or twice a week before bed after cleansing/toning.

BeautyLab GlycoWash £32 (I think the company no longer exists as of 2016).

A skin refining oil free 5% glycolic foaming gel with triggered release technology that works longer and deeper to remove impurities, unclogging pores refining and cleansing whilst helping to prevent future break-outs. Contains pomegranates enzymes, glycolic and salicylic acid infused microspheres, soothing willow bark and lavender.

This is a chemical exfoliant also. I use this once or twice a week in the mornings after cleansing and toning.

Scrubby glove £1 in most pound shops (for a pair)

AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are useful for sun damaged skin and BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) are useful for getting rid of blackheads. I did have blackheads on my nose before using the Paula's Choice, and before Fibromyalgia I used to be a lover of the sun, so I've got all my angles covered. If you want to read more in depth about AHAs and BHAs, there's a great article here

Since I've been using the Paula's Choice products particularly I've noticed a reduction in redness on my face, and the blackheads have disappeared from my nose. But more than that, I've got a bit of a glow about me.

Have a bonus photo of me with the Soap & Glory on my face. :)

Daxon softly draping bodyshaping dress*

Hiya lovelies!

I've got a great dress from Daxon to show you today. It comes in two parts - there's a body shaping underslip and a soft jersey dress with a cowl neck.

The dress has a faux wrap detail at the bottom of the dress and gathering. The waist is a little too low on me, but I have a very short torso - there's barely a gap between my boobs and bum! I feel this dress would possibly benefit from a separation into straight sizes and plus sizes, as a lot of plus size women are narrower just under the boobs rather than slimmer women whose natural waist falls lower. I could've worn a belt to give the appearance of a waist (I'm super bloated at the moment) but didn't want to lose anything from the length. The dress is really soft and comfortable and the shaping slip can be worn under lots of other dresses. This is the kind of dress which can be dressed up or down. I might wear it with some bright leggings next time.

Fatshion February 09/02

Hello,

Don't say I don't ever bring you the glamour. These photos were taken near the recycling area in a supermarket with an industrial estate and some high rises in the background. I know, I have a life to envy. ;)

I'm struggling so hard to function right now that getting out of bed, getting dressed and putting make up on is worth celebrating when it happens, no matter how crappy the photos are or how casual what I'm wearing might be. We had to go to Asda to collect something and recycle our glass and took the opportunity to get some photos done before the daylight faded.

They say red and green should never be seen. *Blows long raspberry.* I wear what I want. If it's good enough for Christmas, it's good enough for me. :)

THE GLAMOUR!

Coat, past season New Look Inspire via Mookie
Dress, past season New Look Inspire
Leggings, Very (twin pack - one full length, one cropped)
Embellished bow shoes, past season Very

There were a pair of women in a car parked opposite the recycling facilities giving me side eyes while we were doing photos. Taking photos by the glass recycling container is about as weird as sitting in your car on a sunny afternoon at the arse end of a supermarket car park watching people, I'd say. :)

By the way, in case anyone thinks I've deleted them from Facebook, I haven't. I've deleted myself from Facebook.

Have a great week.

Fatshion Feb 08/02

Hello sweet peas,

Yesterday hubby and I took the opportunity of a weekend free of plans to run some errands and pick up some bits and bobs for the flat. We snapped these photos in front of some daffodils on our way into town - spring is coming!

It was rather windy!

Yes, I'm wearing that bloody coat again! ;)

This is one of those nothing special outfits that I want to feel OK about posting. At the moment, getting dressed and putting makeup on is something to be celebrated, even if the outfit itself is a bit meh.

One footed like a flamingo again

Hairband, February's Crown & Glory Glitterati box
Necklace, Christmas present from my friend Lis
Dolly coat, past season ASOS Curve
T shirt, past season New Look Inspire
Skirt, past season New Look Inspire
180 denier tights, Big Bloomers Co
Chain back boots, past season New Look wide fit

These boots are great. So comfortable and there's no zip so if you're chunky of ankle they just slip on and off. You can tighten the buckle up to stop them flopping about.

Crown and Glory Glitterati Box February

Hello loves,

There's no outfit post from me today. Instead here's this month's box of wonders from Crown and Glory. This is my 4th box and my favourite so far.

CROWN AND GLORY GLITTERATI BOX FEBRUARY 2015

Everything comes nicely packed in a sturdy box. This month there was a Valentines card and a lollipop in the box, along with some heart shaped paper cut outs.

CROWN AND GLORY GLITTERATI BOX FEBRUARY 2015

CROWN AND GLORY GLITTERATI BOX FEBRUARY 2015

I absolutely love the burgundy hearts headband and the red glitter triple heart bandeau. I'm slightly less in love with the pink heart fascinator, but only because some of the hearts came off in transit and I'm worried about shedding pink confetti hearts if I wear it at a wedding. Still, there are plenty of hearts left in place and it's no biggie to get some craft glue or spray adhesive and some confetti and top up the sparkliness at a later date. I'm not really a small clips girl (go big or go home!) so I'm saving most of the little clips I get for stocking fillers for Christmas. This month's box had an RRP of £55 which is pretty sweet considering it's £20 including P&P. If you fancy subscribing to The Glitterati you can find out more here. They post worldwide.

Have a great weekend.

Hello you.

I've decided for the rest of Fatshion February I'm going to go with my first idea about what to wear each day, or my first few blind grabs into the wardrobe. I'm not over thinking it.

This outfit is almost all Simply Be.

Whoo, it's Friday! I don't know what we're up to this weekend but hopefully something. Have you got anything good planned?
