I loved the airy look of this dress despite the Andy Pandy vibes it gives off. A couple of people also told me it looks like a hospital gown. 😝 It has pockets and the tie sleeve detail is lovely, and you can adjust it to fit depending on how much skin you want to show. It's a change from the usual cold shoulder style.
I've got some bad ankle and leg swelling at the moment. I don't think Fibromyalgia likes the heat at all. It's been like it since last weekend and it's quite painful to walk as my skin feels really tight. My hands also swell up too. I think that's another post about Fibromyalgia I need to write!
I've got a bee in my bonnet for really bright makeup at the moment. I'll do a post soon with a collection of bright eyeshadow looks. I feel like a bit of a winner as after MONTHS of effort in my liquid eyeliner skills I'm getting better. Whoo hoo!
What else can I tell you about this dress? It's lightweight and will be great for hot days. I'm 5ft 5 tall so you can judge what the length will be like on you from that. The stripes are dark grey/black although they look blue from a distance.

Have you heard of Monki before?
Thanks for reading. Leah xoxo
Never heard of Monki but I am in Australia so eventually they might make their way here. I was in H&M last weekend, and Zara a few weeks ago. I love Skechers. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is upsetting me right now is a lack of sparkly. In the kids department of H&M they had a huge range of gorgeous sparkly sweaters for the kids, but not a single sparkly thing to be seen in adult wear anywhere. :(
Looks like this is the season of BYO sparkly.
It's a travesty not to have adult sparkles! I love bling on everything - glitter, pom poms, tassels, gems. I basically want to look like a stripper lounge's soft furnishings!
DeleteMonki do sell some things on ASOS, and since ASOS posts to Aus you should have a look. Most of their lines are for average sized people (whatever average is) but there are some lovely things for people with extra padding, too.
I love Monki! They also have stores in Finland, not in my city unfortunately, but I always go there when I'm in Helsinki. :) I really like this dress. I love everything with stripes, but the sleeves are really cool too. I also think that you look gorgeous in that bright eye makeup! xx
ReplyDeleteCool! I want to go to the one in London next time I go to London. Even though I'll probably end up selling my soul to Satan to pay for it all. :)
DeleteThank you, I have a real bee in my bonnet for bright eyeshadow at the moment. I go through phases where I'll wear nothing but neutrals for months and now I've gone the other way. :) xx
To be brutally honest, YOU rock this dress, I looked at the model on the web site and I wouldn't buy as dress like that. If you were modelling, I would, you sell this dress. I do like the shirt dresses.. Hmm
ReplyDeleteLooking fab lovely! I am freezing atm, but you must be lovely and cool in this dress.
Thanks Yvonne! That's a lovely compliment. <3 It's lovely and warm over here so I'm sending you some sunshine! I'm avoiding the sun as much as possible though because of wrinkle-avoidance and generally not feeling great. It's nice to have the balcony door and the windows open with the sun streaming in, it really lifts my mood. xxx
DeleteI think it really suits you! It looks really comfy and chic. I think it's a difficult dress to pull off but you do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, lovely! TBH it could have turds printed all over it and I probably wouldn't mind. It's so light and because it's oversized it gets the wind up it so easily so it'll be like wearable air con. The only thing putting me off was the Andy Pandy vibes, but I got over it. ;)
DeleteI've seen the brand Monki mentioned around social media, but I didn't know much about it until reading this, so thank you! I love an oversize dress and boxy silhouette, so I will definitely be checking them out. Also, since getting back from Norway and Iceland in May, I'm really inspired by Scandinavian design at the moment. I grabbed a handful of style and design magazines at the airport for continued inspiration. I think this is a darling dress with so much styling potential. It'd be cute with white tennies and a crossbody bag. But I also think it'd be fun to channel the nautical trend with a red tassel earring and flats and maybe a navy bag. Thanks for the scoop on Monki. Putting it on my list to check out by the end of the week!

Thanks Liz. <3 I love everything Scandinavian! I've been to Sweden twice and loved it, and I'd love to go to Norway and Iceland too. My friend Mookie is Norwegian and I know it's sooooo expensive over there, but then so is Sweden, ha. I'm sure it's worth it anyway.
DeleteThanks for the styling tips, tbh I hadn't even thought about what else I could style it with, I just knew it'd be fantastic in the heat. I LOVE the idea for nautical styling!
LOVE your make up here- that orange eye shadow really suits you :) x
ReplyDeleteThanks Shell! James said I look scary in this makeup - mission achieved! ;) x
