5 things I learned in my 30s

You can read 5 things I learned in my twenties here.

 1. NEVER never never ever bend forward whilst looking at your face in the mirror. This my friends, is what your lover will see if you go on top during some luuuuuuurve making. Seriously scarred me for life. How could anyone go there with me looking like that?! Unnnnnnggggggghhh. Any flesh on your face will fall forward, making you look like a Shar Pei in a wind tunnel. SO not good. Don't believe me? Try it.......if you dare.

2. Talking of your face, any fat in your cheeks which looks all cute, glowy and youthful pre-30? After 30 (well, maybe 35) it all slides down your face and goes to your chins. Yes, multiple. Grrrrrr.

3. Alcohol is the devil. The hangovers! They don't even sneak up on you in the mornings any more. They start while you're still AWAKE! 'Tis the devil's own juice.

4. Sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen! A few wrinkles on your face are the reminder of a life well lived, but a wrinkly cleavage? No no no! Crepey cleave is not good. My décolleté now resembles my favourite (faux) leather bag. OK, I exaggerate a bit, but the warning is still there ;)

5. Confidence! For me, this is the decade when I came to realise all that I am, flaws and all, and say 'Damn it! I love me!' If I'd had this confidence when I was younger I'd have been dangerous.

Thanks for reading.

  1. I LOVE this post. I am 32 at the moment and really enjoying myself. I have also started a bit of a routine to help myself feel healthy as regards my skin care and blood stream (cutting down alcohol)... and I am kind of excited to see all that happens next. I am totally gonna try the mirror trick too. xxx.

    1. They say youth is wasted on the young, and I agree! I think I really started to come alive from my mid 20s onwards. I'm glad you're having a blast!

After edging a little closer to 40 (I'm 38 now) I've decided to start taking proper care of myself, starting with a really good skincare regime with SPF. I'm easing in gently to the responsible new me and will soon be cutting out diet drinks (which leach essential vitamins out of the body), drinking more water and - EEP - doing more exercise.

      The mirror thing is a little scary :P x x x
