I have very wide calves and haven't been able to wear knee high boots for many years. When I found out the Wide Calf Boot Store have boots to fit my legs I was thrilled. I chose this style as they look a bit like biker boots, a style I love.

My calves are really chunky at 22 inches. They're really muscular - they have to be to carry me around! These are leather boots so they should last me years, and the heel is a great as I can't walk in heels. The1 inch heel is perfect for me.

The Wide Calf Boots Store has a handy calculator to let you know what calf width of boots you need. At 22 inches around and a 7.5 shoe size, I needed boots in the width XXXL. Wide Calf Boots Store also do wide fit wellington boots and boots for narrow calves. The ones I chose are the Podgorica by JJ Footwear* in black. They have buckles at the ankle and back of the calf, a handy elasticated panel down the side adjacent to the zip, and another elasticated panel at the back.

These boots fit 19-22.8 inch calves, but I would advise that they will need gradual stretching for calves over 21 inches before you can do them all the way up. I had to wear mine around the house for a few days to stretch them before I could do them all the way up comfortably. My calves are exactly 22 inches and there isn't any extra room in them, so if your legs are closer to 23 inches than 22 I would say these boots might be too tight for comfort. There is a great article here about how to stretch leather knee high boots. If I have one criticism of these boots it's the small zip. When you're trying to do up something tight and you have fat fingers (or weakness in your hands) a tiny zip is very hard to use, so these boots could do with a chunkier zip pull to be perfect. Aside from that small criticism they're very warm, and comfortable to walk in.

I'm going to wear this lace dress over everything, so be prepared to see it a lot. I've already lost the tie to do it up with, but it only fits under my boobs (not over them) so until it turns up it looks pretty good open too. It does have gentle stretch if you're thinking of buying one, and I'm wearing a 3X for reference. These tights from Big Tights are amazing. I have them in black and red and they last a long time so they're well worth the investment. My black ones from a couple of years ago are still going strong with only a little hole in the toe to show for their age.

You may have noticed I've gone back to my rock chick roots and that's for a couple of reasons. Firstly it makes me really happy to wear alt styles, and secondly all the fabrics I love to wear like velvet and pvc are too hot in summer so I'm in my element in the colder months.

Thanks for reading!
Leah xoxo
