A mixed review - Soap & Glory Flake Away

Hiya lovelies.

I'm a big fan of Soap & Glory, but let it be said I'm not such a fan of this scrub.

I recently got through a whole tub of the Breakfast Scrub, which I didn't review because I wanted a frame of reference to compare it to. Now I have one.

Flake Away makes my skin feel absolutely great, but it's not pleasant to use. I don't know if I got a duff pot, but it clung to my body like an MP to a free bar. It just wouldn't wash away, even with direct spray from the shower head. OK, I thought, I'll scrub it off with a flannel. Nope. I spent three times as long as usual in the shower and still felt like I'd been rolling around in a gravel pit.

'James?'
'Yeah?'
'Have we got any sandpaper handy?'

Needless to say I didn't crack out the sandpaper, but I did scrub myself with a flannel, then a towel, and I still had some scrub left on me to attend to whilst I was drying.

Now there's the matter of surfing the bath tub. This stuff is more slippery than David Cameron in a jelly wrestling contest. If you have balance issues or an aversion to paramedics, for the love of Jaysus use this product with caution! Being serious for a moment, I nearly fell over several times because the oil in the scrub lifted the bath mat suction pads away from the bottom of the bath. In the end I had to grab a towel, throw it into the bath and stand on it, get the oiliness off my feet then gingerly step out of the bath, fully expecting to slip and break my vag bone on the side of the bath. Because I have balance issues and falls are really problematic to my pain levels because of Fibromyalgia, there's no way I can use this again. I like my cleanliness sans a dash of broken arse.

However, if you don't mind imagining you're on a wave in Oahu while you're in the shower, this scrub will leave your skin beautifully soft and well moisturised, so it's not a total loss.

I'm going to repurchase the Breakfast Scrub, refresh my memory, then review it for you. It's a bit good.

Have you ever diced with death in the shower? Ever nearly been suffocated by a shower puff or ended up with a bath duck in an unwanted orifice?

Have you tried this scrub?

Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean rave review

Hiya lovelies!

Here I am with another product I've been trying out from the Soap & Glory Bundle I bought just before Christmas, Peaches and Clean cleansing milk. Be warned, my make up free visage is further down the post.

Here's what Soap & Glory have to say about it:

Our special clogged T-zone formula Includes peach extract (with skin smoothing fruit acids), quillaja bark (a gentle natural ‘soap’), jojoba oil (an emollient skin softener), Detoxyboost™ technology (to help purify and deep clean) and Poreshrink R2™ (for a clearer, fresher, brighter complexion). In our opinion it’s the best cleansing milk on the market!

Instructions for Use

Massage a splodge of onto your cheeks in the evening (or morning, if you managed to fall asleep with your makeup on) rubbing double on any trouble spots - oily forehead, nose, chin - to maximize the purifying actives. Rinse off with water. (Repeat if you feel you need it.)

All photos can be clicked for larger images.

I've been using it for a week and I love it. I use two pumps which is enough to cleanse my face and take my make up off.

It smells absolutely gorgeous - a mix between peaches and fresh, zingy straight-out-of-the-garden herbs. That'll be the thyme and the linalool, the latter of which would explain the mintyness. It leaves my skin cleansed, removes make up and makes my face glow. My skin is dry - so dry that if I haven't moisturised in a day or two I get an itchy face and flakes come off (gross!) Normally, if I cleanse I have to moisturise straight away or else my face feels really tight, but not with this beauty. Of course my skin is better for moisturising afterwards, but if I was running late I could skip it and survive.

Excuse my scary no-make up face with all its blemishes (EEK!) but I hope it illustrates how fresh it makes my face look. There's a tiny bit of mascara residue under one eye, but there's always a bit of mascara left over when I take my make up off whatever I use.

One thing I will say is because of the AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) in this product you will have to be more careful with sun protection, as there's a school of thought that says AHA's used incorrectly can make you more sensitive to the sun. If you're not using an SPF moisturiser, now might be the time to start! Your skin will thank you later. You can read more about AHA's here.

Have you tried this product?

You can find it in Boots.

Soap & Glory Heel Genius foot cream review

Hello loves!

The first thing I tried from the Soap & Glory bundle of goodies The Best Of All was Heel Genius, because I really struggle to keep my feet moisturised.

My heels don't crack, but they are very dry indeed and I have a constant battle to get rid of hard skin and keep my feet soft and smooth. I use the PediPro by JML to slough off dry skin and Heel Genius will be a welcome addition to my foot care routine. It's always best to use a dedicated foot cream rather than a general moisturiser, I think. Our feet take a pounding daily and it's only fair to use the right product for the job.

I'd describe Heel Genius as more of a balm than a cream, because as soon as you apply, it soothes and cools. To me it smells slightly minty. It sinks in quickly (on me at least, but that may be because my feet are very dry) and leaves my feet baby's bum soft and without any annoying dry bits. I hate it when I have dry feet which catch on the bedsheets! If you applied Heel Genius before bed and put cotton socks on, you'd wake up with deliciously pampered tootsies.

Heel Genius costs £5.50 (at time of writing) for 125 ml from Boots online and Boots in store.

How do you take care of your feet?

I find I have to keep on top of foot care every couple of days, or else I end up with a lot of work on my hands.

I got it! Glorious Soap & Glory

Hello ladies (and gents, if there are any of you afoot.)

I went into town today to pick up the Soap & Glory Best Of All bargain bundle from Boots. My face lit up like a Christmas tree when I saw there were plenty left. Even better, it only cost me £4.50 instead of £27 as I had vouchers to cover the rest of the cost. You can read about the contents in my previous blog here.

The bag it all comes in is a lovely thick canvas with a sturdy zip and a big handle. I'll use it as a travel bag to put all my make up and toiletries in when I'm away from home. It'll be more than sufficient, even for the stupid amount of products I take away with me.

There are 7 toiletries in the bundle and 2 make up items - a mascara and a lip gloss.

I'm curled up in my leopard print slanket with a wheat bag and cushions all around me to conserve heat. When I went into town earlier it was cold, windy and raining and I can't get warm now. Because we live in a flat high up on a hill facing the sea we catch an awful lot of wind here. Brrrrrr!

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Soap & Glory The Best Of All £27 from Friday

Hello bargainous beauties!

I got a little email today from those canny Money Saving Expert guys about Soap & Glory's The Best Of All giant bundle of beautilicious-ness!

From Friday 14th December it'll be down from £60 to £27. Everything in it bought separately costs £70 so it's an absolute steal. It'll be available online and in stores for a week, or until stocks run out.

You get:
  • The Righteous Butter™ Body Butter 300 ml
  • Hand Food™ Hand Cream 125 ml
  • Sugar Crush™ Body Scrub 300 ml
  • Clean On Me™ Shower Gel 500 ml
  • Smoothie Star™ Body Milk 500 ml
  • Heel Genius™ Foot Mask 125 ml
  • Peaches & Clean™ Cleansing Milk 200 ml
  • Super-Colour Sexy Mother Pucker™ Lip Plumper in Punch Bowl 3 ml (hot pink.)
  • Thick & Fast™ Super Volume Mascara 10 ml
It comes in a giant zippered bag. I love the Soap & Glory packaging these big deals come in. I have three or four previous years worth of packaging as they're really sturdy and reusable items. I have a big hatbox, a big sturdy box like a mini laundry basket, and a big pink canvas bag. They all get used, and are almost worth the price for the packaging alone in my opinion. This years' bag looks like it'll make an excellent make up bag or travel case so it'll definitely get used.

I really rate Hand Food - it's a brilliant hand cream. Clean On Me is great too.

I have £23 worth of Boots vouchers from last Christmas so I'm going to put it towards this set.

Will you be getting this big bundle? Go, go, go! May the VISA be with you!

From previous experience, these sets go fast, the website normally crashes under the strain so it's well worth a trip to town to pick one of these babies up in person.
