Outfit Post: Colourful

Hello!

I've got a bee in my bonnet for separates at the moment, the brighter the better.

Junk in the trunk//rawr

I decided to do some colour blocking with the red and blue, further adding impact with a neon yellow belt.

This catches me on a super bloaty day, but sod it. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who can sympathise with bloating for one reason or another - be it IBS, abdominal swelling caused by ovarian cysts, polycystic kidney disease (which causes the same thing - I know this because PKD runs in my family) or any other complaint which makes you feel like you could bounce a penny off your abdomen and take someone's eye out.

I refuse to hide away because of the changes illness makes to my body. Time and time again society tries to shove the idea down our necks that images of perfection are the only ones worthy of being shared. I say balls to that. How many 'perfect' people are there in the world? Not a lot. How many of us, the fabulously and uniquely 'flawed'? Millions, billions. Will you let a society and a media which profits from making people feel shit dictate to you how worthy you're supposed to feel? I won't.

You know, everywhere I look I'm reminded that bodies like mine are considered abnormal, wrong, unhealthy, diseased. It's an effin BODY. It's the cage for my soul. It's a physical form. If that is more important to some than my character then I don't want to know those people anyway. Their opinions are not respected nor required.

Rawwwwwwr.

I've just realised everything in this post is Simply Be. Oops.
