Searching for meaning in 2017

I've been a bit quiet and contemplative in the last week or so as I've been trying to work out what it is I want from this year, and how to work towards it. Sometimes it's easier to work out what we don't want and use that to shape our aims.

I don't want to be someone who writes about fashion and nothing else. Some say fashion is frivolous, but I say it's vital self-expression, particularly for people like me who are ostracised by straight sized fashion. Visibility and representation are very important so some part of me will always have an interest in plus size blogging, but no one is a one-topic human. We all have a multitude of interests. There is more to me than plus size blogging. There is more IN me than plus size blogging.

I know I still want to write, and I want to write about things that mean a lot to me, but what are they? Everyone has things they hold dear - their children, family, or perhaps their God. I have no God, and I don't want my possessions to be the God of me. I want to share other parts of my life - things about mental and physical health, what enrages me, what nourishes me, what makes me laugh and cry. What I learn and what horrible cock ups I make which help me learn.

2017 will be the year I search for deeper meaning and try to bring it to this blog. I hope that will take shape over the next few weeks and months. 2017 is the year for looking inward to bring more happiness into my life. It's time to get zen, bitches. 😝
