Fat hippie chick

FAT HIPPIE CHICK FAT BOHEMIAN STYLE // WWW.XLOVELEAHX.CO.UK
Now spring has well and truly sprung I've got loads of outfit shots set in places with lovely scenery. James has been roaming about with our zoom lens instead of using the kit lens on our camera and the shots are so much nicer.

In these photos I'm wearing:
Gold kimono, Viva Voluptuous
Cross back vest top, *AL Yours Clothing
Ruffle skirt, past season ASOS Curve
Faux suede shoes, *AL Everything 5 Pounds
Necklace and earrings, Bluebirds and Daisies
Ring, gift from Mookie
Bag, Primark

I've got this vest top in black and rust and it's the softest material imaginable. I hope they haven't changed the fabric since last year because I want to get a few more in the other colours. They wash well too.

These photos were taken in Brightling cemetery, a lovely little countryside cemetery in East Sussex where all you can hear around you are sheep baaing.

I forgot I had this skirt. I think I bought it at new year in the ASOS sale. It's got that lovely hippie chick look to it which I adore at the moment. Stevie Nicks is my ultimate style muse right now and I'm definitely looking at timeless but bohemian pieces to supplement my wardrobe ongoing. I really envy people who have just one style and stick to it, but I can't. One day I want to be a goth, another day a pastel princess, and a hippie chick the next.

The shoes from Everything 5 Pounds are often small fitting, so I always order a size up to accommodate my wide feet. I have so many pairs of shoes from E5P and they're great. I've seen a shop near me who orders in bulk and sells E5P shoes at £25 a pair. There's nothing in the quality to suggest they're £5 shoes at all.

I'm happiest out in the countryside where the birds are singing. I hope to bring lots more outfit shots like these to the blog over the warm months.

Thanks for reading. Leah xoxo

  1. This is such a lovely outfit - I love the idea of wearing your Viva kimono as outerwear, I never would have thought of that!

    1. Thanks Charli! This kind of thing gives me a thrill - wearing things in ways they're not *supposed* to be worn. I remember seeing a gig aeons ago where the singer was wearing a silky nightie she'd distressed with a cheese grater, and big shit-kicking boots. That juxtaposition of femininity and grunge gives me the sartorial horn! ;) xx

  2. I love your outfit and the setting is cool. That cemetery looks ancient. I remember Eddie Izzard poking fun at us Americans...and this building is 250 years old. LOL. Yeah, we don't have Stonehenge. I love that skirt. I am completely gothed out as of late. I opened my closet yesterday and there were two floral dresses and everything else is black. I really need a big light in there. I have to remember that a vest is a top. To me a vest is a menswear piece, sleeveless, buttons up front, that goes over a shirt and under a suit coat. I used to look for a vest, but I am getting better. Lol. Helps that I watched so much Monty Python as a kid. Although I never got the Terry Gilliam art because I didn't know the politics. Lol. Okay, off to make Sunday dinner.

    1. Eddie Izzard is from the town I now live in. He still comes back a fair bit. No, you don't have the historic buildings, but you have some of the most iconic landscapes in the world. One day I'd like to visit, but not while your current president is in power!

I know what you mean about black things getting lost in the wardrobe. That's why I forgot I had this skirt. I love the way different countries call things. What do you call a vest there, a camisole or something? In Aus they call them singlets, which I think sounds really cute. Terry Gilliam's art is rather weird isn't it? It kinda reminds me of Pink Floyd's We Don't Need No Education video.

    1. Thanks Yvonne! <3 Don't worry about it - we're all connected on so many social media platforms that we keep up without ever having to say we're keeping up. I have some other outfit shots ready to share from other lovely places. Long may the weather last (although some parts up North have bloody snow right now!) xxxxxx
