Khaki and animal - the £29 outfit

These photos were taken in Winchelsea, a lovely little East Sussex village you can walk around in about an hour. It's where the comedian Spike Milligan is buried and there are lots of lovely historic buildings to look at. We often go there for a peaceful stroll through the cemetery and to walk the pretty streets.

This outfit is a bargain one. The skirt was bought from Primark a few years ago. I think it cost about £10. It's one of those rare oversized Primark items as they only go up to a size 20. The blouse was from the New Look sale a month or so ago and cost just £4. The shoes are from Everything 5 Pounds, the bag was £9 from Primark, and the ribbon cost about £1. That comes in at £29. Not bad at all!

I'm wearing:
Shirt, past New Look Curves
Skirt, past season Primark
Bag, current season Primark (in store only)
Pink metallic slip ons, Everything 5 Pounds

Items from Everything 5 Pounds sell out so quickly and I can't see these slip ons on the site any more, but they have plenty of cheap shoes for sale.

I adore this time of year because it makes posing for outfit shots so easy. Everywhere is covered in flowers so just stand by a blossom tree and tadaaa.
I got the tip about snazzing up shirts and blouses with ribbon from Zoe. Her post is here. I don't have very many shirts and blouses, but I can use this trick on the ones I have.

Thanks for reading. Leah xoxo

  1. Leopard and blush pink is a palette I can get behind! Also, it makes me feel like I'm branching out of my usual palette of pink, black, and white because - gasp - I'm incorporating a cool print!

The metallic backpack adds a fun textural component and sparkle to your look. I like that each piece feels special on its own, but they all come together.

Thanks for sharing Zoe's tip of jazzing up a blouse with a ribbon tied around the neck. What a simple trick that adds a sweet, feminine touch!

    1. Thanks Liz! <3 I see leopard as a neutral so it goes with everythinggg. The ribbon trick is so good, and I plan to try it with lacy, patterned and embroidered ribbons too. It's a great way to get on the embroidery trend without having to spend lots of money. Soe patterned ribbon against a plain outfit would really pop too. I've been finding lately that it's the accessories that really make an outfit! I'm still looking out for a necklace like that pink one you wear. ;)

  2. Love it. Love leopard print. Come to think of it, I need a new coat in leopard. The ribbon idea is very clever. I would never thought of it. Rockin it as always.

    1. Thanks Christy! Me either - some of the most simple things make the biggest difference. I hope you can find a nice leopard coat. I'm thinking of putting mine on, it's bloody freezing here today!
