Mookie and Mike's visit & my OOTD

A month ago my lovely friends Mookie and Mike came to stay for the weekend. On the Sunday we all went to a lovely farm near us to hang out in the sunshine. Here are some photos from the day, plus what I was wearing. I've been erring towards casual/nothing special looks recently, and because I've not been buying many new things I'm trying to put a spin on older items. James and I have had car trouble recently plus we're saving hard for a mortgage so money is tight. The dress I'm wearing was actually a knee length harem playsuit but I hacked through the legs to make it an asymmetric hem dress. You can see me wearing another one of these hack jobs here. I've put an old galaxy print t-shirt over the top.

I can't tell you how lovely it is to start getting my legs out to feel the air on them after years of not doing it! It's so liberating. No matter what your legs look like, they deserve to feel sunshine and air on them, so get them out. If people stare they're rude arseholes, and who cares what rude arseholes think?! LIBERATE THOSE LEGS!
This place is called Chilley Farm and it's a lovely little spot in the countryside. There's a farm shop where you can buy food and drink, often locally produced. I stock up on Fentiman's rose lemonade and delicious chutneys every time I go. They have a little cafe with outside seating, lots of land with a river running through it, a barn to hold celebrations in and even fields to camp on. There's a play area for children, great toilets (including a huge disabled toilet) and lots of picnic tables so you can sit outside and listen to the birds. It's lovely there.
We made sure to get James IN a shot for once as he's usually behind the camera.

I'm wearing:
Playsuit, similar here *AL up to size 30 £7.98
Anti chafing long leg knickers up to size 36 £16.95
Galaxy tee, similar here *AL up to 3XL £12.65
Trainers, *AL Everything 5 Pounds £5

Do you worry about getting your legs out? Or any other body part? I'm team flash the flesh this year. I won't put other people's eyeballs before my personal comfort and neither should you. 😉

Thanks for reading. Leah xoxo

  1. Yas Queen!!! Get them legs out! I really don’t like to show my legs much. If I wear it dress it’s a maxi-length or a shorter dress in winter with tights and knee boots. In summer I struggle. It’s so hot so tanks and camisoles/singlets are the only sensible options. I have 100’s (and I do wear them) but I have to be coated in at least 3 layers of fake tan as my upper arms are hella dimply and wobbly. Sigh. Even my forearms are dimply!!! Not sure how that happens!! LOLOL

    1. Thanks Christy! <3 I've got a bit of chicken skin on my upper arms, and it turns out it's something called Keratosis pilaris and you can get creams for it, but I don't know if that's the same as what you've got. This stuff is supposed to be great for it. http://www.feelunique.com/p/Ameliorate-Skin-Smoothing-Body-Lotion-100ml xxxx

  3. Yaaaaaayy!!! You've made my day with these pics Leah! You look so happy in them and totally non-spoonie if that makes sense. I'm so, so chuffed that you got to have such a fun day even though I know, as all spoonies do, that even fun days leave the body batteries drained. So worth it though. These are such fab pics Leah, thank you for sharing you've made me smile (and if you knew what kind of day I'd had... ugh) huggles always honey xxx

    1. Aw, thanks Rosie! Sorry you had a crappy day when you wrote that comment - is it your RA? How do you do in the heat? Me, not so well. I never was able to cope much in the heat but now with Fibro/ME I avoid going out in it at all as it makes me feel faint and sick. Take it easy, especially at work! xxx

  4. Since I started blogging, my hemlines have gotten shorter and shorter with each passing summer. It used to be that I wouldn't wear any skirt higher than a midi length. But now I'll do three inches above the knee, and that was impossible to me five years ago. I still haven't tried a pair of shorts, but that's as much an issue with riding up as it is with length.

I have been knotting my tees like this all summer long. It's a great alternative to tucking in and masks all sorts of weird issues with waistbands sitting funny. I've yet to try knotting one over a dress or jumpsuit, but that's on my list to try before summer's end now!

    1. I'm never going to wear t-shirts any other way but knotted again (unless it's under a pinafore or something). Even James - who isn't a perceptive man - said 'Wow, that makes such a difference!' when I knotted up my tee the other day. Wearing a t-shirt as is makes me look so bulky.

Yes to getting your legs out, especially in the heat!

    1. I'm glad you had a lovely time despite feeling so ill. I think James took that one of you two, since he has the camera in hit mitts most of the time now. Yes I look forward to showing you the horses. ;) xx
