Life lately

Hello lovelies!

So, what have I been up to of late?

Sleeping

It's all feast or famine - I've been sleeping loads or not sleeping much at all! I've gone from 12 hour nights sleep plus a 1-2 hour nap each day, to 6 or 7 hours sleep, and broken up into a couple of chunks with a long waking period in the middle. One night last week I slept for 3 hours, was awake for 5(!!!!) then slept a couple more. This is why there's no 'pull yourself together' with chronic illness. It's one step forward two steps back all the time.

Buying

The New Look shoe sale got me good and I'll show you the third pair of footwear I bought from them in the sale in an outfit post later in the week. I scored 2 pairs of boots and a pair of shoes for £23 total!

Shopping

I went to Westfield with Mookie and a bunch of other plus sized babes on Saturday. Circumstances meant there was hardly any shopping to be fair, so my bank account is relieved, but it was so good to see everyone again and meet some new ladies. All I bought was one top from Forever 21+ (£9) and lunch. I'll wear in an outfit post soon. Here are some photos from the day.

Watching

I watched Holocaust: Night Will Fall on 4OD and was horrified at the scenes I saw. I had my hand over my mouth for the first several minutes in case I threw up. The dehumanisation those poor people suffered because of their Jewish faith, or because they were gay, gypsies or priests was appalling and unfathomable. I have more to say on this matter, and the dehumanisation doled out to vast spectrums of people to 'justify' hideous acts upon them (even in the modern age) but I'll save that for another time.

I've also been binge watching lots of SVU. I bloody love Benson and Stabler! Oh, and I've been sucked into Celebrity Big Brother too. Damn!

Cooking

I've been cooking up a storm in my slow cooker. I'm using it about every other day and getting 2 nights meals out of it, plus getting lots more veg into my diet as it's easy to fling it all in the night before. I've put some pulses on my next shopping delivery and hope to fill up my tum with healthy things and save some money on our shopping bill by having a home cooked meal every night. Because James doesn't eat anything other than potato products for his evening meal I do rely on pasta salads or other pre-packaged crap sometimes as cooking for one is a bit naff, but the slow cooker has changed all that!

Abstaining

I (mostly) gave up cola drinks, crisps, chocolate and bread before Christmas. I used to have 1-2 cans of coke a day. I also had a naughty crisp habit and have stopped buying them for myself - James has crisps I don't like so there's no temptation to have them. I have a bar of chocolate now and then (more so over Xmas as we were given chocs) but it's not something I reach for on a daily basis. I might have a couple of slices of bread a week now, if that. Before, if I was hungry the first thing I'd reach for would be a sandwich, but I'm far less bloated since I gave coke and bread a wide berth. I was drinking a lot before Christmas (well, a lot for me, maybe 1-2 bottles of wine a week) because I was so miserable. I've stopped that too, going back to the 0-2 drinks a week I had before. I can go months without drinking alcohol when I'm happy. After having coke and booze as a 'treat' this weekend just gone, I nearly passed out every time I stood up so I'm starting to think it's definitely a good thing to keep avoiding it!

Yearning

I've been yearning for more sunlight, more warmth, and to get out and about on nice day trips again. I've been itching to go stomping round cemeteries as we haven't done that for months either. Spring is on its way and the days are getting longer by 3-4 minutes each day so brighter days are ahead - literally!

What have you been up to recently?

Thanks for reading,
Leah xoxo
