Label's Body Positive Art Festival in Manchester

On Friday August 26th there's a fantastic event lined up in Manchester. It's a Body Positive art festival to be held at Islington Mill in Salford, Manchester, a unique arts venue with wheelchair access. I was invited to the event By the organisers Label, but sadly I can't make it due to the distance involved. Label are a company who run body positive performances. From their website: Label is an organisation that runs body positive performances. We believe in inclusivity, and the value of offering people a platform to share their stories and reflect on their identities. Their tagline is: Labels are for clothing : Labels are not for people. I love that!

The night will include music, film and art around the theme of body positivity. Two bands will be playing - The Kaptivators and Cassia. The night will begin with the premier of the theme tune for Label, performed by Tasha Sofla. The Manchester Indie Film group are showing some short films with topics such as the expression of Mancunian identities and growing up with a disability. There will also be an art gallery composed of over a dozen body positive artists and photographers from all over the world. These include Tara O'Brien, Zoe Lapin, Niki Gomez, Lisa de Cunha, Allie Crewe and Lucy Shaw. I'm not familiar with all those people, but I love Tara's artwork, she's amazing.

You can grab your tickets here for just £15: www.ticketsource.co.uk/label.

It sounds like an amazing night - I wish I could be there. If you go, do let me know how it went! Label's website can be found here with links to all their social media platforms. You can find the Facebook event with more updates here.
