As soon as I saw these lip velvets on a blog I was on the Makeup Revolution website like a shot.

Vamp and Black Heart are very similar in colour, in fact I got myself in a pickle when it came to allocating names to the photos. Black Heart is slightly darker and more a deep purple black (but not completely black) whereas Vamp is more a cherry black. I found the two darker colours to be harder to apply than the red and purple shades, quite possibly because I knew if I made a boo-boo, it would be hard to clean up. (I use grapeseed oil on a cotton bud).

The product is a thinner consistency than the MUA velvet lip products, but you still need to work quickly and accurately, which didn't always happen for me as you can see in my close up swatches. It was definitely a case of practice makes perfect. I applied a thin layer of lip balm before each colour to help with glide. I find if the product is still wet you can go in for a second pass to clear up any missed bits, but whatever you do don't put your lips together while it dries or else you'll get glue lip. If you can master the blow up doll mouth you'll have no problems while it dries. Once on I didn't find them particularly drying, but I'm sure the lip balm helped.

As to longevity, on the outer parts of my lips they lasted hours, but not very long on the inner parts of my lips - I drink water constantly as my meds give me a dry mouth.

You can find these lip velvets for £3 each here, and in selected Superdrug stores. My favourite shades are Vamp and Rebel.

Thanks for reading.
Leah xoxo
