5 places in Europe I long to visit* (sp)

Hiya!

I've really got back into Pinterest lately, and although I blog about fashion and beauty, the things I tend to pin the most are scenery photos. I spent a couple of hours the other evening researching travel to Venice after I found a glorious photo on Pinterest, and I found myself sucked into a vortex of 'What to pack' and 'What to see when you're in Venice' type posts....even though I don't know if I'll ever get there. But isn't that half the fun?!

A lot of the photos I pin are from European destinations, so here are 5 places I'd love to visit in Europe, with some accompanying photos. (If viewing via email click through to blog to see the photos embedded from Pinterest).

1. Venice. It's the romance of the place; the idea that anyone would imagine driving millions of wooden piles into the marshy ground and building on top of it. I'm a big fan of 'go big or go home' ethos and I think Venice is the ultimate example of this ballsy attitude. I love the way they're at the mercy of the sea, but go with the flow (literally!) and deal with the regular aqua alta (high tides) with stoicism. I absolutely adore art, history and architecture and I'm pretty sure that if I do ever make it to Venice, I'll probably spend the first day jumping for joy, and the rest of the time buying more SD cards for the 24 zillion photos I'd take.

2. Rome. Again I would love to visit for the architecture, art and history although I'm pretty sure gelato would figure in somewhere. The Vatican museum, the Colosseum, The Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain would all be on my must-visit list. I'd need a lot of SD cards for that trip, too! I love ancient buildings, ornately carved stone and embellishment for the sake of it, so I know I'd be spoiled for choice in Rome.

3. Paris. Things I'd love to see are the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and a little detour to the Palace of Versailles. Some crepes might have to be on my list too. Ooh la la!

4. Santorini, Greece. I've only been to Greece once, to Corfu, and I had a lovely 2 weeks exploring the length and breadth of the island. The Greek people are so warm, and the scenery of Santorini takes my breath away. Whitewashed cottages built into the hills, touches of blue on the buildings nearly as deep blue as the sea and sky. Magical!

5. Cinque Terre, Italy. It literally means '5 towns' and is a collection of gorgeous fishing villages with some of the most stunning scenery I've ever seen. I think the photo speaks for itself about why I want to visit. Those colours!

Writing this post has lit a fire in me and made me realise there are lots more places I want to visit! Wanderlust is like an itch - once you scratch it there's no stopping it! Where would you really like to visit and why? Tell me alll about it - I might just find somewhere else to add to my Pinterest! And if you want to follow me on Pinterest, please do.
