A graveyard in Portland, Dorset. |
That's a quarry behind the graveyard. That's where Portland stone comes from, which if you're in the UK you've probably heard of - it's pretty prestigious, as rock goes. Buckingham Palace is made out of it, and you can read all about it here.
My name is Leah and I find beauty in decay. As such, I'm a graveyard aficionado.
This graveyard is probably the best one I've ever been around. It was so overgrown, and there were some truly beautiful headstones and monuments which I'll be showing in Photo Friday posts for a while, interspersed with other stuff. I'd love to go to Highgate Cemetery one day, which has over 53,000 graves and some of the monuments are so stunning I think I'll die of joy when I go there. I'd also love to go to Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, which has over 1 million graves. Holy shit. It's perhaps most famous for being the eternal resting place of Jim Morrison.
Do you have any creepy hobbies or fascinations?
Thanks for reading.
